Scarecrow

look at how great this scarecrow is! completely scary, right? arrgghhhh!

my daughter daisy and her friends decided to celebrate fall by making a scarecrow using stuff we collected from garbage and recycling bins!

we couldn’t stand to throw away our old broom – it swept up too many memorable nights! that’s when we came up with the idea for the scarecrow.

we used the broom as a base and then gave it shape by stuffing used recycled plastic bags with old newspaper.

we twisted twine to build the body together and then hunted for clothes. clothes from the dress up box worked great! so did some too-stained placemats and cloth napkins and samples of carpet.

we used glue guns to adhere all the recycled products to the scarecrow. between this and other re-found goodies (dry-cleaning hangers, old plastic cups, containers and utensils, cardboard toilet paper and paper towel rolls form the recycling bin) we created our scarecrow!

be an eco-hero and make one of your own!

(and while your at it, send us a pic to post on our community blog!)

i’m so excited to bring you into my beautiful creative new world. this is my first blog! it’s really important to me to fill you in on how i live my life imaginatively and inspire you to live everyday to the best of your imagination too!

raising creative, imaginative and conscious kids is really the most important thing to me. and this blog is such a wonderful place for me to share how we can all do that. i’ll talk about activities that are so fun and so easy that don’t cost money!

some days i may write about amazing ways to recycle, reuse and reinvent materials to create terrific pieces of art with your kids. some days i may tell you about giving back to the community with my daughter daisy (who’ll you’ll get to know very well.) all of the time i’ll want to get your feedback and your ideas.

inspiration and adventure is all around us – you don’t need a studio to be an artist, so let’s slow down, help out, and take a run through the sprinkler.

looking forward to building an imaginative, happy, and loving community with you and your family,

emily green
